The Departure

At Last we are off
on 3pm on 8th November 2007

There is no doubt that we have given ourselves a first class pass in endeavour to make this event happen and to prove the case we took this photograph the first morning out from Perth. We had only travelled about 50 Km but it was a start and as you can see we are quite content with that progress.

The intent is to update the Blog on a weekly basis and of course this first week went by like a dream and the Blog was forgotten or perhaps more pushed to the side by the events of the day.

Whilst we are basically on holiday (sorry retirees do have the pleasure of holidays), there is still the day to day issues of cleaning, cooking, sleeping and ablutions.

However the current status is that we have done just over 1000Kms and have reached Esperance, this is old ground for us since we spent nearly 2 years here at the turn of the century (very impressive turn of phrase). The place has developed and is much more tourist orientated at first glance, so we intent staying for a few days and testing out the sights and the golf course.

The route to Esperance was via Albany where we also spent a couple of years in Albany which we left in 2005, like Esperance, Albany is looking very smart and no doubt the billion dollar project at Ravensthorpe is spreading it's good will far and wide.

The "Van" and ourselves are settling down quite well and one of the benefit's of the delay has been the running in of both the "Van" and ourselves.

Like always we have had plans for the last few days and have changed them on a daily basis, this is going to be a common theme of the trip, well maybe??
