From the Gulf of Carpenteria to the Coral Sea

This part of the journey has taken us from Normanton to Karumba Point on the Gulf to Cooktown on the Coral Sea, via Georgetown, Atherton and Mareeba.
The change in landscape has been spectacular from the Savannah grasslands of the Gulf. Atherton tablelands and finally the tropical rain forest.
These are some of the images that particularly impressed us.
Priorities first

This is the outside of a Gulf side Hotel at Karumba Point at Sunset.

As you can see we are not alone as the sunsets.

This is what we all waited for.
The food did not match the view but you can not have everything.

Between the to areas there is the "Great Dividing Range"

This shows our road disappearing into the distance.

Also it gives a feel to the distances we travel.

But you can get up close and personal with the Flora.

This tree we were told is one of the hardest in the world

But Katherine found it soft to the touch

Less easy on the eye but really nature at it's oddest

This is in the Blog to demonstrate the Australians in 1970 lost the plot.

The jetty was specially built so that the Queen on her visit to Cooktown
could access the land on this special jetty.

The existing wooden jetty was not good enough apparently.

But was good enough for us today.

Good value for our Taxes - I think not!!

What was good value was the breakfast on the jetty.

We doubt that the Queen had this value

In addition we had this view to enjoy
